Migraines and Miscellany

Since about March I have dealing with migraines.  At first it was pretty random but in the past few months it has become a weekly, if not more often, occurrence.  Before this I had my share of headaches but never anything like this.  I've been to the doctors, who are little to no help and are just sending me to see a specialist.  Now I wait for an appointment that could be 6 months to one year away.  I've already been waiting a month to even get a future date.  I feel like I already know the cause of my migraines, tight traps and other back/neck muscles, but no one will listen to me.  In a last ditch effort I have made an appointment with one final doctor.  I have done my research and will present it to the doctor at my appointment and hope that she will at least hear me out.  I think the solution is will be so simple once I get into the right hands.  I am hoping to be able to go to a chiropractor who practices A.R.T (active release technique).  I just want relief from these migraines (and neck and back pain)!!!  (In order to be covered by insurance I need the doctors referral)

In other news, I have over spent this month and am so frustrated about it.  The majority of it has been necessary but not planned for, therefore, not in the budget and I will have to tighten and cut everywhere possible for next pay day.

This weekend is my big 25km trail run.  I think it will be a lot of fun.  I am really looking forward to it.  Next week is my Battle Fitness Test,  A weight loaded 13km march (total of 24.5kg (54lbs) of weight carried on person).  So these next two weeks will be very physically demanding and I am hoping my migraines aren't bad.

Well that's a little update about what has been going on in my life lately.  I have been reading your blogs but not commenting as much as I would like.  I am hoping that soon things will be back to normal around here.

Student Loan DEBT FREE!!!

AHHHH!!!!  I love it.  Today is the final payment on my student loan debt!  IT'S GONE!!!  It's finally gone!  Come on and dance with me!!!

*Little Lamb breaks out in to loud, off key version of "I feel good"!

And in other news, I have started attacking my last credit card!!!

I sat down with all my numbers and figured out the extra's that I put on my credit card from my vacation time.  It actually didn't end up being much.  I had to get a few meds for one of my bunnies but that will be coming out of their budget and paid on the credit card so I'm not concerned about that expense.  I've update the side bars and tabs to reflect all the new numbers.

I'm off to enjoy my first day being student loan debt free in years!!!  Have a great one!!

Company is here

I've had some relatives at my house for a week now.  We have been doing various "touristy" things.  My budget has taken a bit of a hit but I don't think it is anything that will really set me back.

I haven't had a chance to sit down and figure things out and won't for a few more days.  Pay day is coming up but I already have my budget done although it might need a little tweaking.

I've been reading your blogs although I haven't taken the time to comment.  I will try to catch up over the next few days.  My company will be flying out tomorrow.

Giving

One of the wonderful things about being debt free will be the freedom to be able to give financial gifts.  I know there are many forms of giving and I enjoy giving in different ways.  I have just never had the freedom to give as I sometimes wanted too.  I have always had the looming cloud of credit card debt and various other debt that required my extra funds.  I get very excited when I think about being able to just hand someone X amount and not even think twice about it.

I have some people in my life right now who could really use some financial gifts (not because they got themselves in a big mess, just due to some big life changes, partially very exciting and partially very scary).  I really wish I could just drop a big pile of cash in their bank account but I can't.  But I can help in a smaller way.  They are selling items because they are moving and because they need the money.  I have inquired about purchasing one of the items that they have for sale.  I plan on purchasing the item and giving a financial gift.  If the item isn't for sale still I will just up the amount of my gift.  I really feel I need to do this.  And yes I do mean "need".

I certainly don't "need" the item I inquired about, in fact, I wonder if I will even use it.  If not, I will be giving it as a gift to my mom, who will certainly use it.  The hard part about that is that she lives in Nova Scotia and shipping would cost an arm and a leg!  Either way, I feel a very deep need to help these people out.  And for the most part, I like feeling like that.  I like that I have the compassion inside of me that draws me to feel like that.  The only part of me that doesn't like it is the part that is driven to get out of debt as quickly as I can.  But sometimes that doesn't matter.  It doesn't matter when there is someone more important than making an extra payment on my student loan.  It doesn't matter when it involves compassion to another human being.  I want to help in my small way and I am going to.

Do you ever feel like you need to help or give?  Will you or do you give more being debt free?  Care to discuss giving more?
